The Leonard Catering Music Marquee is back for its 2nd year. This year, we have Dj Freebird playing throughout the day. We have a 1-hour free Jive Class with Sandra Ganley from 12pm-1pm, live music then from Kevin & Fintan (1pm-2:30pm), and then the very popular Stuart Moyles will wrap things up from 3pm-5pm. So get those dancing shoes ready.

Welcome to the Corrandulla Show!
After a Covid enforced break of two years the people of Corrandulla and beyond were delighted and excited to have their beloved show back in 2022. Corrandulla Show 2022 was a huge success with the biggest crowd ever enjoying a wonderful variety of entertainments. Corrandulla Show 2023 was even bigger !
Corrandulla Show is one of the biggest and most popular Agricultural Shows in the country, attracting over 10,000 people to the village on the fourth Sunday of June each year. Corrandulla is a prime example of a modern country show. As well as the regular show activities, this expansive show provides free Children’s entertainment kindly sponsored by St Jarlaths Credit Union, an extensive selection of Market Stalls, a Fun fair and lots of other novelties for young and old alike.
All the entertainment takes place in the main field, adjacent to the hall where there will be a running commentary throughout the day keeping you informed of all the main events and attractions, while a big screen will be provided for those interested in watching the GAA games.
The most exciting addition to last years show had to be the Leonard Catering sponsored Music Marquee which was full to the brim all day. The Marquee promises to be buzzing this year with live music and dancing all day. DJ Freebird will play throughout the day while the renowned Sandra Ganley will help perfect your dancing skills with a free Jive class at 12 noon, followed by music from Kevin & Fintan from 1pm. At 3pm the hugely popular Stuart Moyles will take to the stage, so polish up those dancing shoes and trot along to Corrandulla! While in this area don’t miss the Market Stalls where the best of locally produced food and crafts will be showcased, while the ever popular, O’Connell’s Pharmacy sponsored Dog Show is a must see.
Visit the hall to see a wonderful display of all types of “Baking & Arts & Craft Classes”, here you will find a vast array of competitions for the “nimble fingered” and “green fingered”, young and old alike. The Bonny Baby show as well as the Little Miss and Little Mister competitions will also take place in the hall and be sure to visit between 12 and 1pm to enjoy a performance from the Claregalway Community Choir. But if history is your thing, then a visit to the Heritage display in the Old Girl’s School is a must, members will be on hand to discuss genealogical and historical matters relating to the area.
The Cattle Showing section of the show continues to grow and now includes Friesian and Aberdeen Angus Classes. The popular Nutrias Baby Beef Competition has been a great addition, it has a prize fund of €1000 and is expected to draw top class cattle from all over. St Jarlath’s Credit Union are proud sponsors of the Cattle Championship as well as the Young Stock Person Section.
There will be an extensive Sheep Show again this year with classes for most popular breeds, as well as a Young Handlers class and a class for a “Fancy Dressed Pet Lamb with a Bottle”. Let’s not forget the Goats – there will be three classes for these as well, truly something for everyone in the audience!!!
And don’t miss the Poultry, there are classes for every bred known to man, these will be on display near the cattle section. Egg Classes are a new addition this year and can also be found in the poultry tent. The much loved Pet classes which are so popular with little children are also in the Poultry Tent.
Connemara Pony classes are always well supported, while the Ridden Connemara and Open Ridden classes are hugely popular. Also, back by popular demand are the Irish Draft and Non-Thoroughbred Mare and Foal classes.
In Show Jumping the Kenny Motors sponsored Connacht Grand Prix is always a big attraction and to add to the fun a Puissance has been add this year, otherwise known as the “High Wall” it promises to be a great spectacle and is kindly sponsored by Harrington Concrete. Show Jumping starts at 9am so there will be lots of action in this area throughout the day. Corrandulla is blessed with its free-draining, limestone land and doubly blessed with its generous landowners who give the show free reign to have the grounds in tip top shape, perfect for show jumping.
Corrandulla Show is a great community initiative and a most rewarding event to be associated with. The Show is famous for being a great day out so come and join the fun – Corrandulla Show this Sunday June 25th. Admission to the Show is a very reasonable €10 each and accompanied children are free.
